Working principle of melt pump


Melt pump is a positive transfer device, flow and melt pump speed show a strict proportional relationship, melt pump by pump housing, driving gear and driven gear, sliding bearings, front and rear end plates, packing seals and other components, the main application and high temperature and high viscosity polymer melt transport, pressurization, metering.

The melt pump is composed of two gear tooth profile, pump body, side cover plate to form the pump feed and feed area, discharge area, when working, relying on the main and slave gear mutual teeth caused by the working volume change to transport the melt. When the gear rotates in the specified direction, the melt will enter the middle of the tooth groove of the two gears in the feed area, and then the gear begins to rotate, the melt is brought into the feed area from both sides, and the gear is toothed again, so that the melt in the tooth groove is extruded from the discharge area and pressed to the outlet pipe. As long as the pump shaft rotates, the gear transmits the melt to the outlet, so the pump outlet can reach a high pressure, and the inlet flow and pressure are not too high requirements.
